WPLS
The Wartburg Philosophical and Literary Society meets on Friday afternoons at 4:00 in the back room of Joe's Knight Hawk. At these informal meetings, faculty, students, and community members listen to presentations of a scholarly nature and engage in lively discussion.

If you have any questions about the Society or if you wish to volunteer to present this term, please contact a member of the Steering Committee.

Wartburg Trumpet Profiles the WPLS
In the January 23, 2007, issue of the Wartburg Trumpet, editor Alan Simmer published an excellent story about the Wartburg Philosophical and Literary Society, with color photos from the January 19 meeting. Entitled "Wartburg Society Serves as a Marketplace of Ideas," the story can be accessed here.
Guidelines for Student Presentations
As the above schedule demonstrates, the WPLS encourages students as well as faculty to present the results of their scholarly activities at meetings of the Society. To assist students in determining whether their presentations are suitable for this venue, the Steering Committee offers the following guidelines:
- The paper/presentation should already have been submitted in fulfillment of an academic requirement.
- The paper/presentation has been deemed outstanding and recommended to the WPLS by a faculty member.
- The paper/presentation should be scholarly in nature and should pertain to a subject worthy of serious academic study.
